About This Work |
The carved emblem depicts an open prayer book inscribed with the blessing over the lulav, the four species used in the morning prayer service during the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). It is supported by two palm branches. A scene of Jerusalem, replete with palm trees, appears on the face of the box with the accompanying inscription: "Next Year in Jerusalem."
